In 2003, I visited the country of my
dream, I was happy I could see with own eyes the people,
cultural and historical places, famous Kabuki and Noh theatres,
wonderful Momiji and modernized Tokyo.
Japan consists of several thousands of
islands, of which Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu and Shikoku are the
four largest. Japan's closest neighbors are Korea, Russia and
China. The Sea of Japan separates the Asian continent from the
Japanese archipelago. More
than 50% of the area of Japan is mountainous and covered by
forests. Japan is politically structured in 8 regions and 47
prefectures.
The population of Japan is about
125,000,000. Almost the whole population is Japanese. More than
half of the non Japanese population is Korean.
There are many volcanoes in Japan
because the country lies in an area where several continental
plates meet. A positive side effect is a large number of hot
springs. The most famous volcano is Mt.Fuji, which is the
highest point of Japan and one of the most beautiful mountains
in the world. It can be seen from Tokyo when the weather is
clear.
I lived in Osaka city during 4
months, and also traveled to Kyoto,
Kobe, Tokyo, Hiroshima..
With a population of 2.5 million,
Osaka is Japan's third largest and second most important city.
It has been the economic powerhouse of the Kansai region for
many centuries.
In Osaka, I visited
Osaka Aquarium.
It is probably Japan's best aquarium. It introduces various
forms of life inhabiting the Pacific Rim in a well organized and
impressive way. Marine life is displayed in 15 tanks, each
representing a specific region of the Pacific Rim. The central
tank, representing the Pacific Ocean, is nine meters deep and
home to a whale shark, the aquarium's main attraction. We
started there tour of the aquarium on the 8th floor and
slowly spiral down floor by floor around the central tank. Some
of the tanks stretch over several floors, making it possible to
observe the animals from different depths and perspectives.
Also I visited the Umeda Sky Building, and took some
photos from the
top of this building. The Umeda Sky Building is a spectacular
high rise building in the Kita district of Osaka, near Osaka and
Umeda Stations. It is also known as the "New Umeda City". The
173 meter tall building consists of two main towers which are
connected with each other by the "Floating Garden Observatory"
on the 39th floor. The observatory offers a great view of the
city.
Also there are some other photos
taken in different places in Japan. Please take a time and
browse them. |
